2016 Pinot Noir

This Pinot is a lovely crimson in your glass and offers up aromas of berry jam with rose petals!  A sip or two reveals ripe strawberries, pomegranate, with touches of cola and tea leaves before a silky, soft finish.  13.1% ABV, 144 cases produced.

The 2016 vintage began with less than average autumn rainfall.  Over 7 inches in January got us within 3 inches of normal. February saw one rainstorm:  a meager 1.3 inches. Luckily a wet March gave us another 6 inches for a grand total of 21 inches. 72% of normal total rainfall was enough to get the growing season off to a good start. Cooler than normal temperatures through August, with only a handful of days above 90, allowed the fruit to ripen gradually.  Our first harvest was Pinot on August 23. Three 90+ September heat spikes helped ripened everything else, and we picked the last Franc on October 13.
