2015 Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes

A gem of a wine - dark ruby in the glass.  The rich berry nose is nuanced with brown spices.  Raspberry and cherry dance across the palate with a light dash of cardamom, allspice, and cloves.  The full finish includes Caberney Franc's characteristic briar notes.

In 2015 2015 we began to emerge from the drought with 22.9 inches of rainfall (80% of average). The warm summer stressed the vines early which accelerated ripening and concentrated the fruit flavors in the grapes. Harvest started with Pinot Noir on August 17, then it was a fast and furious September: Chardonnay and Viognier, then Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, and finally Cabernet Franc on September 30. The last wines were pressed off October 12.
