From a very light straw color in the glass to aromas of honeysuckle and bright tangerine, this Viognier is a delight to encounter! Honey, white peaches, and a splash of citrus dance across the palate before a lovely sunshine finish.
The 2016 vintage began with less than average autumn rainfall. Over 7 inches in January got us within 3 inches of normal. February saw one rainstorm: a meager 1.3 inches. Luckily a wet March gave us another 6 inches for a grand total of 21 inches. 72% of normal total rainfall was enough to get the growing season off to a good start. Cooler than normal temperatures through August, with only a handful of days above 90, allowed the fruit to ripen gradually. Our first harvest was Pinot on August 23. Three 90+ September heat spikes helped ripened everything else, and we picked the last Franc on October 13.
