The 2002 R.V.'s Fine Claret is named for winemaker Bill Cooper's grandfather, R.V. Garrod. The R.V. Claret is now known as the Test Pilot F-86 Sabre Jet. The 2002 vintage was 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Cabernet Franc, and 24% Merlot and was released in February 2008: "Rich garnet in the glass, leading into a nose reminiscent of dried plums, blueberries, raspberries, and - yes - dark grapes! The palate finds ripe Bing cherries, lush berries laced with a kiss of cassis, and richly tanned leather with hints of fine pipe tobacco. The velvety, smooth finish lingers with the wine's easily elegant structure." $58/bottle ($46.20 Club members).
