2010 Cabernet Sauvignon (93 pts - Wine Enthusiast)

Tasting Notes

A classic Cabernet Sauvignon, our 2010 Two Vineyards is a beautiful garnet color. Cherries, hints of plum, and the essence of a nice pipe tobacco greet the nose. The palate finds juicy Bing cherries and smooth cassis along with cedar notes, leading into a velvety finish. 93 pts – Wine Enthusiast. 94 pts and Best of Region - CA State Fair.

7 inches of rain in October 2009 gave the vines a good soaking as we finished up harvest. 20 more inches in Nov-Dec-Jan assured us there would be plenty of water in the soil. A final 7+ inches in March and (mostly) April brought us to 36 inches, 24% above average. The growing season that followed - gradually increasing temperatures and no 100+ heat spikes in July or August - gave the grapes long hang time, and our 2010 harvest began almost six weeks later than the norm, at the very end of September.
