Emptying the Samsung CLP-500 waste tray

Open the side panel, remove the container, dump out the waste, wash in warm soapy water (bottle half full, add a little dishsoap, shake well), rinse out, let dry, and replace the container. Washing will help prevent the staining effect that occurs after two or three cycles.

If washing did not remove all the residue and you still get the error message, bend a Q-tip, reach in through the left-hand opening, and clean the flat (front and rear) surfaces of the sensor window.

The sensor window is the half-circle bulge just below the left-hand opening (for the rear roller) and note where this fits into the printer - light passes through the bulge and is blocked when filled to this level.
